Isaac
Adams was a physician turned sea captain under the tutelage
of famed Newburyport Captain William Bartlett. The walking "mall"
across from the mansion is named for Bartlett. Adams built his
home in 1809 as a symbol of his success. The period features
found in this mansion are amongst the finest examples of Federal
Period architecture on the North Shore. The six apartments reflect
the grandeur of the owner with unique crown moldings, oversized
kingboard wainscoting, "inwall" wooden shutters in
the front rooms and working fireplaces throughout. The property
also includes the latest in modern systems including a full
fire suppression system and fire alarms, secure entry buzzer/locking
system, laundry room, completely new plumbing, electrical, kitchens
and baths. Old meets new in this meticulous restoration project.
